mercruiser 4.3 v6 alpha one set-up, 2 bbl carb. Motor wouldn't start took carb off/apart and cleaned thoroughly, put back in place. Motor now starts, however RPM's are off the chart. I've checked Idle screw it's OK. But motor rev's extremely high when started. What inside carb would cause this? I'm assuming when reassembling something is stuck or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chris, with your engine off, look inside the carb. You may have to open the choke with your hand to see inside. You should be able to see the butterfly throttle vavle inside. It should be barely open. You may find your throttle cable is holding it open, or when it was reassembled something is binding. This assemble controls the main air intake for the carb. If has no air it shouldn't rev up very high.
