I have A 70 hp 3 cylinder Evinrude. The engine runs great on the muffs in the driveway. However, when the engine is placed under load at the lowest Idle in forward or reverse the Engine?s R.P.M.s drop and the engine dies out. The engine runs great after passing 1300rpms, great top end performance. I have cleaned and checked the Carbs with out any change in performance. The compression is within specks. I replaced all three of the coils. I visually checked the reeds they all appear to be solid and in one piece. The fuel in the boat is brand new. I have the boat in at a service center; However, I am not impressed as of yet with the performance of the place. They have had the boat for a month, and they keep telling me they are adjusting and messing with the Carbs and the timing. However, I do not believe that this is where the problem with the engine lies. I am looking for any ideas out side the box in reference to this engine.
Help Please!!! Summer is wasting away!!!

Your engine sounds like it is in dire need of a link 'n' synch procedure done by the book, not by the seat of someone's pants, Prop head.

The triples are very sensitive to badly done L&S, particularly if the idle is set without it being in water and in gear. The result is exactly as you have described.

Following the instructions in the factory manual it can be done by an amatuer in less than half an hour.

PS: Don't shout HELP!!. Help is what we are about. If you didn't need or want it you wouldn't have posted.
