Help! 9.5 hp driveshaft and water pump problem

I am a new member of this forum. When removing the impeller housing I lifted up the driveshaft to the prop. (I forgot to remove the o ring.) It came up about an inch. I pushed the drive-shaft back down and the prop moves in both reverse and forward when I twist the shaft. There is some play when going from forward to reverse and vice versus. IS THIS NORMAL? If not, what do I need to do?

I really appreciate this forum and the ability to get parts from iboats. Thanks for any advice.

Perfectly normal. It isn't broke, so doesn't need any fixing.
