Hi Everybody...I have a Festival Game booth and do shows EVERY weekend...my prizes are inflatables...buying electricity at each show is expensive...I was told to use a car battery with an inverter by one person...another said that a deep cycle marine battery would give me more power and longer usage...can someone inform me which battery would be best to use for an all day show...I will be using a Goodyear i8000 120 Volt Inflator...Thanks

:welcome: to iboats

Found your pump and it appears to draw .75 amps @ 120VAC, this does not state what the initial turn on amps are but I would suspect to be less then 5 amps.

While the pump will not draw much when running the inverter will be the main power drain. The inverter will pull more amps to produce the 120VAC for the pump to use. I use 12 amps of 12VDC to 1 amp of 120VAC produced. The key will be to turn the inverter off when not using to save the battery.

I would recommend using AGM deep cycle batteries so there is no issue of spilling acid. AGM batteries are sealed and require no maintenance or water. Sam's Club sells the Duracell AGM group 31 for around 180 each, and has 348 minutes of capacity at 15 amps. If this would be enough time then maybe go tis route. Now if you find an inverter which is more efficient or use two batteries in parallel all times can be extended.

AllDodge's math seems to be in the ballpark, but you didn't mention exactly what you are inflating. The current rating is @ 150psi. If you are inflating to say 5 psi, it should last much longer than 348 minutes.

You will need a two wheel cart to transport a group size 31 battery due to it's weight. You also need to charge it immediately after the show. you need a 200 watt or larger inverter. 400 watt would be best to provide a little reserve.

If your compressor is your only need for power, I'd investigate using a 12V pump to go with your battery power. Why use a 120V pump that requires an inverter?

She said it is a 120 volt ac unit so yes -- an inverter is necessary And we know current draw so we know inverter size. What we Don't know is duty cycle.
