Well finally. After much *****ing with my wife she finally let me buy a boat (after i cleaned the house out of all the rubbish we did not need.. never again) Anyway i got a 4.3m runabout with a Mercury 650 Thunderbolt Ignition 65hp motor (really old i think 25 yrs or something). The engine runs fine.. bit smokey but i put to much oil into the petrol i think! Everything works cool! All i need for the boat is a new canopy and raised window (bit low for my liking).. I just bought a set of instruments.. A yamaha speedo, an SW tacho, SW ammeter, SW hours meter!

I think i can manage hooking the ammeter and hours meter up but im having some trouple hooking the speedo up! Someone told me that theres a similar nozzle that is on the back of the speedo on the motor which you connect to. All i have found is a hole which is near the bottom (i.e maybe 30-60cm up from the propellor) on the shaft wich i can't connect the tube to! Do i need to buy some special connector or something for the boat? links if you can help please to

Also how do i go by hooking the tacho up to the engine! Anyone with this engine.. where are the outputs pls?

Thankyou

Hi y2jericho: You may have to pickup a pitot at a marine supply and mount it to the bottom of the transom. The pickup on it will stick below the bottom of the boat and skim the water.Hook the tube to it. As for the tach. There is probably leads in the engine control for it. Lookup the brand of tach you have and go to their website and they usually have instructions for the guages. If it is a Teleflex their website is teleflex.com. Good Luck
