Pls can someone help me. I have a 1972 Cobra with an aq130d engine and 270 outdrive. The engine is out and being overhauled. Cannot get the bell housing off despite much encouragement using various tools. All bolts removed. Boat been standing for over 20 years in garage. Get one side of housing open about half inch but other side springs back. Need to remove it to get crankshaft out and get engine away for pressure testing. PLEASE HELP.

sounds like your PDS shaft is rusted into the coupler

MAYBE???? The coupler is rusted to the shaft(Scott said) there is a way possible to get it loose.
The bottom of the bell housing, there is a hole with a rubber plug.
Remove it and see if you can get to the bolts that hold the coupler to the flywheel.
Otherwise just keep pulling and wiggling, try spraying PB Blaster in the housing??
