1993 Seaswirl OMC Cobra 3.0. Boat belonged to my father who bottomed it out and broke gear housing assembly.. Replaced it with a used unit. Hooked to muffs and the water started leaking into the bilge. We noticed the drive shaft bellow was damaged so we replaced it..still leaking. Replaced outdrive gasket to no avail. Had difficulty attaching exhaust tube from inside.. thinking that may be where the problem lies. Here's a link to my youtube page where I've uploaded a video of the leak. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Waskoneto, :welcome: to iboats. Nice you could join us...

Well obviously you have a huge leaking issues. And the only way to deal with that is either a few huge bilge pumps OR you have to tear the system down to see what is broken causing that leak. I am not familiar with such engine setups but there are lots of folks on these forums that are and will chine in here shortly to offer the best way to figure out where that leak could be from. Thank you for such a warm response!! I have to tell you I was a little intimidated to post on here. We're TOTALLY new to boats and know absolutely nothing. We don't even know the names of the parts we're working on..but we're determined! I've read so many posts, watched every video and we've taken the whole thing apart on 3 different occasions. We may not kow much now but I can guarantee we'll feel like "know it alls" after we're done..lol.

Just remember everybody had to start somewhere. So the more you post and understand the more you will become familiar with such names and things. I am familiar wit OBs but not so much with IBs. Do you have a shop manual for your setup?

If the y-pipe cracked you will have to pull the motor to get to it.
You do have a Manual right?

That definitely looks like a water leak from the exhaust pipe to transom mount, because as soon as you shut off the engine the water stopped. Sorry but you have to pull the engine again to fix that ...

Mirror and flash light.
Get under the motor and see where it's coming from?
Be careful when the motors running as it can catch your clothes and pull you in.
Fill out the tags and signature and tell us where your from??
