i have a 1969 glastron that i have very recently gutted and rebuilt with a 1975 150 hp Mercury outboard with tilt and trim just went up the lake and with the motor all the way down just after getting on plane the boat will want to cut to the right (steering)--have the rack by telflex---then when the boat does that it seems pretty hard to correct the turning.. the other thing was i but helm on upside down and when turning the wheel to the left the boat would turn right-- oops scared the hell out of me but funny first time boater thank you :)

It sounds to me like the trim tab is turned the wrong way.I always have to think which way to set the tab. I think you piont the rear of the tab the same way the boat is trying to go. Think it over .

If you are getting on plane and motor is trimmed all the way down, you may be going into a bow down/plowing condition which will cause most boats to veer right or left. I had this happen when I was trying to visually tell where motor was trimmed after having new motor put on. I would go to a veer left right after getting on plane. I went to I boats and saw this problem addressed. So, next time out I figured out I did indeed have motor in a tuck under position causing bow to be forced down into the water(plowing) and then trimmed it to a nose up position, it all went away and my speed dramatically increased --- not to mention manuverability.
