Hello all!! My force outboard (125 hp) will crank up and idle fine. When i shift and go 1/4 throttle it will go fine. But when i give it some gas it will kind of bog down. It will bog down then jump up and go for maybe a second then bog back down. When i shift back into neutral. it will idle fine. Any Ideas?

Thanks much!!

Re: Help!! Bogging down

Sounds like carb problem if it has sat all winter with gas in the carbs then it probably has broken down and stopped up the secondary jets in the carbs , and you want notice it siting in the yard hooked to hose you will only notice it on the lake when you open it up.i have also seen since they are adding the ethanol to gas that it has a 60 days before it starts breaking down it also absorbs water which is not good for boats..I just cleaned out a tank on a boat that had sat over the season and it was like brown sediment all in the tank, also make sure your fuel filter is not clogged and check your fuel primer bulb make sure it is not cracking because it could be sucking air .but if it was a prop problem then when your boat bogged down your RPGs would go up still and you would hear the motor throttle up real high .anyway I never add any kind of fuel cleaners or anything like that to the tank best thing is to take off carbs and boil them out and rebuild them.hope this helps.

Re: Help!! Bogging down

I was thinking a carb problem as well. I just replaced the gas line with a brand new primer bulb so i highly doubt that is the problem. Ill look at the filter tomorrow as well as the carb. Thank you for the help!!

The fuel pump may need rebuilding. Easy and cheap to do.

When the motor bogs down does squeezing the primer bulb make any difference?

Check compression to make sure all cylinders are good.

No when it bogs down the bulb stays firm and doesn't help when i squeeze it.

Cleaning the carbs will be a very good start especially with the main jets. The other thing is to at least verify the timing and the trigger wirings have not rubbed off.

Yes pull both carbs off and don't just take them apart and try an spray cleaner thru them that want help! You will have to take them completely apart and remove tha gaskets ,take the floats off ,then go to parts store or autozone and ask for carb boil it comes in a gallon jug or 5 gallon jug then put e carbs in it while they are apart good to soak them a whole day.once through take them out and use water to rinse them completely ,then go over them with carb cleaner.then put them back on and pump up your primer bulb and I bet money it will crank!! Let us know !
