hi, new user...

I am looking into buying a 14' G3 vhull boat. the boat has a 25hp, 2 stroke, BIGFOOT engine. He also has a 9.9, 4 str that is also a BIGFOOT and I can choose which one i want.

I want the 25 for larger lakes. is this going to be a problem. I understand they are for heavier application boats, but this thing cant be that heavy.

can a prop be in stalled on the 25 hp, that will provide adequate speed and top end, i dont expect it to jump out of the water on take off...

i currently have a 14ft, vhull with a 15 hp johnson(late 70's) and it will do 20 moh loaded with one person. this boat is older and i just want to upgrade a bit.

any help is appreciated...

Re: help--buying used boat, prop question

Its a bit of a miss match.
The motor uses a 40/50hp gearcase and props at least to 17" are available.I would think you could prop for that light boat.I would run it with what ever is on there now first.
