help changing impeller

I have 1984 merc. 150hp ....trying to drop the lower unit, but there is bolt under torque fin that you cannot get a wrench or socket on !!! Is there a speciality tool needed??? also do you have to disconnect shift linkage?? any help or directions appreciated !!
