Help choosing anchor system

I need help choosing an anchor system for my new 1625 Lund fishing boat. Pulling the anchor rope hand over hand is not an option for my fishing partner wife. Every product review I read about electric anchors, regardless of brand, complain about line running outside of the spool or stripped gears. I think a crank up system would be okay but am not sure how/ where to mount it. A second issue is that the boat has a snap on cover so the anchor device must be either removable or low profile.
This is my first power boat, of this size, so I would like to tap the wealth of experience that must be available on this forum. Thank you in advance for your responses.

Welcome: my brother has a 16' Lund with two electric winches - I can't remember there brand, but we have used them for years with
nothing but dependability.

How about an anchor ball? Nothing to mount...let your motor do the work!

Maybe your anchor is too big or your line too small (hurts her hands). You usually don't put winches on 16' tinnies unless you are doing some real deep anchoring.

How about being a gentleman and pulling it up your own self? Then she won't be too tired to get you a beer and bait your hooks.

You might have a point there Vice Admiral. All of her previous experience comes from being wedged in the bow of a 14 foot utility without a platform to stand on. (awkward position).

I can't say I've seen a 16' boat of any sort with a windlass, much less the need for an anchoring "system". I'd think a bow-roller would be about as far as I'd go on a tinnie like that just to help with the rope-angle when retrieving. We talking 50' of line? or 400' of line?

Never more than 50 foot of rope used for anchoring and normally less than 20 foot.

I can't imagine investing the several hundred $$$ to avoid retrieving 50 ft of rope.

Offer the wife the cash if she quits complaining. Or wrap it up and give her the winch rig for her birthday. Either way, you'll get lots of solo fishing in after that.
