I have a 2003 50hp ELPTO with a mercury control box. On occasion I am finding it difficult to get the control box into neutral. Prior to starting, when I adjust the idle to high, the shift handle seems to move slightly and takes it out of neutral and thus I am unable to start the motor.. After jiggling the shift handle a bit I eventually make contact and am able to start the motor.
Is this something that can be adjusted/tightened to fix the problem? Is there a contact point in the handle that needs adjusting?
