hello all. I'm trying to replace my water pump and thermostat on my 85hp force. however whenever I look up parts online it lists several different parts none of which give reference to which motor they fit other than stating that it replaces Chrysler part # (fill in the blank). they also rarely mention if they come with gaskets/seals or not. seems like they would include the gaskets/seals since one would need them to change said part. anyway I'm after a water pump kit and a thermostat along with the appropriate gaskets. the boat is and 86 but I can't say for sure if the engine is original to the boat. model # is 856X4L and the serial # is 2104 . any help or leads would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Best to id those part directly from a Mercury dealer parts list.

Go here:
http://www.crowleymarine.com/2/FORCE/1984.cfm

Select the model number from the list at the left
Your motor is a 1984 model. [h=1]H0856X84L[/h]
Select "gear housing" from the list.
You will find most parts can be bought separately, but some are no longer available.

Complete water pump kit part number FK1069

This is available at many retailers, just google FK1069

Theremostat parts are listed under "powerhead".
Parts 79, 80, and 81

You can also go to boats dot com and select Force, and then year and HP size and see there offerings...
