Hi Guys,
I'm trying to find a transom seal gasket. This is the cork gasket that seals the gimbal housing to the transom on my MC1 outdrive. I have two part numbers, but neither shows a match on the Iboats website. Part#5373 or Part#27-65373. Am I looking it up wrong? I got the part#'s from Don S a while back so I'm sure they are correct. Any help?

Re: Help finding gasket

I know they have a couple of gaskets.... this illustrates the difference between the two:

I don't remember where I got the picture... so I don't know what part numbers those are. But hopefully this helps somewhat.

Thanks fishermark, I did locate and order one yesterday on another site. I'm not sure why there are two different gaskets. The shop I ordered from had both and layed them on top of each other. they are the same except for the extra 1/4 inch of material on the bottom. The price is the same also. I ordered the longer one thinking I could trim it if needed.
Would you happen to know if this gasket gets installed dry? or is some type of sealer needed? That i'm not sure about.

Re: Help finding gasket

I generally use a light coating of Permatex #2 or even Permatex Aviation Sealer... but that's me. I know there are quite a few opinions out there on this topic. Almost as many as what kind of motor oil to use in the engine! :D

Re: Help finding gasket

Looks like it would be a fairly easy gasket to cut out of a piece of neoprene/rubber gasket material from the local industrial supply store...Might even be superior to the cork?....just an idea for the future...

Actually the last one I did, I bought a sheet of gasket material from Napa Auto that has cork and rubber impregnated in the material. It is a very dense and quality gasket material. It worked great.
