While disconnecting the hydraulic lines from one of my trim cylinders, the aluminum treads in the cylinder body just disintegrated. To my shock and dismay after a call to the local parts man they get 1100 dollars for one!!!! Does anyone know where I can purchase just the body of the cylinder or a used one in good shape. I am also starting to see I might even have some trouble finding rebuild kits for these. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Believe it or not all I was trying to do was just pull things apart to clean them up for paint. This should probably go in the stupid human tricks segment.

Re: Help finding SX-M trim cylinder

I'm not familiar with the SX-M drive but, what kind of thread is on the hydraulic line? Is it a tapered pipe thread? Can you buy a bushing that would have an internal thread the same size as the fitting on your hydraulic line which would mean that the outside thread would be bigger than the fitting on your hydraulic line. Then drill out the hole in your cylinder and tap it to the size of the outside thread of the bushing. Hope that made sense. . . If you have a local hydraulic shop they might be able to help you out with the correct bushing.
Try doing a google search for used Volvo Marine parts.

If the shop told you that was for one, they are crooks. That should be the price for a pair of them not just one. Look at the price here http://www.volvopentastore.com/Trim...on_id.936433150--store_id.366--view_id.783187

Your basic ebay, craigslist, online searches will find you the best online prices.
Check some of your local independent shops (not Volvo dealers) they usually know of some local used parts places in your local area.
