I have foamy oil in the upper gear case of my stringer. No water just like it was aerated. Before I run the engine and after it sits it is fine. Im wondering if it is normal because the lower unit does not foam up.

After it sits for a few days crack the bottom seal and ease it out to the point that you can bleed a little fluid out if it. Any water? (My bet is yes.)

If its not a lot live with it for the summer. Check it and change it a few times over the summer and do a tear down in winter. You can usually talk your local boat mechanic down on price over the winter while they are hungry.

Good time to do water pump too since you have to go that far to get at the seals.

Don't forget to check and change you tilt cavity oil often. Water all ways get in there no matter what. water floats the oil up the shaft and in to the motor.
This oil dissolves the lacquer insulation on the motor windings and poof no more motor.
Solution, check and change every time or 2 out. Or if you keep boat in slip every time you take it out for whatever reason.

Re: Help foamy oil.

There is no water in it. Ther was some kind of synthetic oil in it Bluish green color. I just used reguar out drive oil. I have not hade it in the water yet this year. I have just run it with the muffs in my drive way. But I have done this twice now and before I run it the oil is fine. and about an hour or so after I run it it is fine. When I pull the Drain plug there is no water just oil. I have already found out about the clutch cr2k. I already have ordered parts and tor it apart to reseal it Just wating for the parts so i can get in the water.
