help help please I no i f up big time can any tell me if I can weld this on the boat I drilled two holes and threaded the hole with a pipe tap I screw up on one side of the threads and some one told to plug it and seal it with 3m marine caulk will this work or will it leak or can i weld it while on the boat on the gimble housing heres are some pics on left side is a white plug and a black plug thanks jim

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,....... I'da gone with epoxy,..... did you use 5200,..??

Caulkin' is more for between pieces, rather than slathered over pieces,....

Like I said, I'd have gone with an epoxy putty myself,....

Weldin' it will be a real Pain to pull off, 'n make a mess,.... epoxy,.....

The correct way would have been to remove the transom and then take it apart to fix the steering lever or pin. Putty or epoxy may work , you will know rather quickly when it starts leaking

yes I did use 3m 5200 on threads and around on the out side of plus after doing this I no to take it apart and fix it the right way to later for that I no its a big job to remove motor and wood rote thanks all what kind of epoxy putt to use also will the epoxy work plastic and aluminum to bond to both my boat is 1977 20 feet searay 228 305 chevy moter mercruiser and pick up a 1978 smaller searay boat with 898 mery 305 chevy if it come using parts I took off juck boat I got for 200 bucks I can use parts that's the good thing about that I have to pull my motor out the put that use new part on and fix it thanks all
