Thanks for looking,

I recently had a pulley fail on my Honda BF225A 4-stroke. I was wondering if anyone knew whether the engine was interference or non-interference? Basically, am I looking at a new pulley and belt only or are my valves/heads shot as well?

thanks,

Matt

Sadly for you, those are interferance valves. It would be interesting to know why that belt snapped as that is rare. What ever the outcome you will need to back off all the valve adjustment screws, retime the new belt, adjust the valves back up ,and hope for the best.A compression test will tell you whats going on.All that a days work easily.Good luck.

I think the recommended change interval is 1,000, hours however, you may want to think about changing it net time you go in for service. They eventually stretch beyond spec and although replacing it is probably not too epensive, when it fails the repair is expensive. It definately needs to be replaced at some point
