Help, how heavy is my boat?

I have a 1982 Larsen fibre glass, 17 feet long, with an aproximate beam of 79", and fitted with a Mercruiser 470 inboard, (yes, I know). I need to know the total weight of the boat in order to source a boat lift, but Larson can't help me, using the number on the transome plate. I found Larson boats, of the same dimensions, on the NADA site, with a stated capacity of 120 hp, and weighing 2000 lbs. I'm unsure wether this includes the weight of the engine, which I am told is 750 lbs.
Does 2000 lbs sound right with the engine included? This would mean the boat alone weighs only 1250 lbs.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Help, how heavy is my boat?

A. Put the boat in the water.
B. Carefully calculate the volume (in gallons) of water that is displaced by the boat - that is, the size of the "hole in the water".
C. Multiply this by 8.

That's the weight of your boat.

The weight on NADA should include the weight of the engine for a non outboard boat. 2K sounds reasonable for the dry weight.

Take it to a truck scale or a farm feed store.

Thanks to all, I'm going with 2000lbs net. Special thanks to BobGinCO, I would never have thought of that, but we still have several inches of ice up here, and my bathtub's too small.
