I was cleaning up the upper housing and sanding down some of the paint and stupidly forgot to block the holes for the water inlet and the driveshaft seal & hole where the drive shaft seats into the upper housing. I attached a picture. What is the best way to flush that crap out of there? I can blast it with air but I don't want to force it deeper. Any ideas?

Also there appears to be something flat in the bottom of the driveshaft hole it looks like a shoe lace or something? Is that supposed to be there? I noticed it when I first separated the upper and lower.

THANK YOU!

Replying to my own thread here I think I've resolved all my issues. For anyone else coming across anything similar to this. What happened was the rubber ring that goes around that metal seal deteriorated or was broken off when the two halves were last reassembled and fell into the hole. I also found the little spring that goes around the seal to keep tension on the driveshaft down there! I removed everything, blew out the hole with my air compressor and wiped it with a non lint towel with some gear oil on it to attract whatever crap remained. I replaced the seal with a new seal and it looks good to go!
