HELP!! I need to know how much fuel a Force 50 OB will use for trip??

Can anyone help me. I am planning a trip to Catalina Island, which is about 22 miles from shore. I have a Force 50 outboard on a 15ft Bayliner. How much fuel will I need??<br /><br />Thanks

I used to go to the Island all the time on my f in law's 37ft troller. you are really taking a chance making the trip in a 15ft boat. it can get<br />rough out there very quickly! at least find someone in a bigger boat going and follow along or better yet have them tow you over. hope you have a vhf radio! as for mileage on an outboard<br />there are way too many variables to guess. you should know better than anyone what kinda mileage you're getting.

We have an '89 Bayliner with a Force 50 that we run around Lake Havasu with, and we love our little boat, but I sure as heck wouldn't take it out to sea. There are just too many things that can go wrong and fuel may be the least of your problems. Enjoy your boat but cover your behind as well. Best wishes.

I agree. This is not an offshore boat by any stretch. Please stay in site of land,and only then,if you have a VHF radio.<br />I own the 1650Capri, and get the "willies" when I leave the tributaries.<br />This boat just doesn't have the freeboard for more than 1 foot seas. And a single engine only exacerbates an allready dangerous situation.
