I just picked this bad boy up for 400 bux and am not sure what it is.
The title says 1976 Glastron CO?
The model number on the engine says: HUTM-69M
Im guessing the year is a 69? Its a v6
Also can anyone tell me what outdrive i have so i can get an impeller for it.
There is a little engraving on the outdrive that says 383126 120-155hp.

Also the previous owner said the motor runs great, which he started up and ran for awhile. He took it out and the engine started to overheat, so he shut it off and drifted for like an hour started right back up and headed back to shore.

Im assuming maybe impeller? water pump? How hard to change these?
Also, im new to these I/O but i do know car engines. There are 4 holes on the engine block which I assume are freeze plugs? Well, 3 are missing. Could that be the problem of it overheating?

Re: Help Identify boat and motor please,

HUTM-69M model number was used in 1969 and 1970 for the 155HP V6 (Buick/Kaiser 225 cubic inch engine)
there's an impeller kit that most sellers claim fits all OMC stringer mount drives from 1964-1985. Althought that isn't true, it should be the correct one for your drive.
Any Evinrude dealer has the OEM impeller. Napa/Sierra, Mallory and GLM make aftermarket kits.

some good info about your drivetrain:

Ayuh,... That'll cause an Overheat, 'n probably sink the boat....
It's also a sign of a frozen, cracked block...

Btw,... They're called Core Plugs...

Re: Help Identify boat and motor please,

thanks for the help guys. A couple more things if possible. This motor I can get parts at just about any auto store? I wanna replace the eater pump on it. Do I have a closed system? Also most of the parts stores look up parts by vehicle, which vehicle should I tell them to look up parts for? Also the stringer or white boat anchor lol, has a hose adaptor for the drive. Can I just hook up a hose and run the motor and shift the drive? Or do I need muffs? Also where do I hook them to? This is my first i/o and really just gettin into them. I wanna learn as much as I can. Thanks for the help.

Re: Help Identify boat and motor please,

that hose adapter is there because muffs don't fit your style of drive
water circulating pump on the engine is a marine specific part - automotive has tin impeller, marine has cast bronze
you can use a Buick 225 circulating pump, but you'll need to change it every year as the tin wheel will rust away
from the pics you posted, I would say no, you do not have closed cooling

there is something bizarre about this thread..... how on earth did you go boating in a boat with an engine missing 3 core plugs?

Re: Help Identify boat and motor please,

Lol thanks you've been a big help Howard. That's what bothers me it seemed like the dude had no idea what he was doin. I personally haven't had this boat out yet. I'm tryin to figure out the damage he did when he took it out.
Where would I find a marine water pump? I checked this website but didn't see one for my application. I found brass plugs for it im goin to inspect the block and hopefully there are no cracks.

Re: Help Identify boat and motor please,

what you want to do is pound in new core plugs and then pressure test it. Apply about 5 psi max where the green arrow is and use bolts or dowel and clamps to block where the red X's are (looks like you have 4 to block off) . Listen for hissing under the valve covers. hiss=engine is toast
searay.jpg

forget the circulating pump - it isn't a maintenance item
that would be about 100th on my priority list.

and get that lawn mower fuel filter the 'ell out of the engine compartment.... man, whoever owned that boat was a weapon
I'd be looking carefully at all fuel system and electrical components before I used that boat. could be a lot of non-marine parts on there waiting to start a fire or cause explosion

Re: Help Identify boat and motor please,

Ok. No hissing sounds is that good? I found 1.5in brass plugs tapped those in.
Replaced spark plugs and wires.
Took out fuel filter. Replaced with a piece of fuel line.
Hooked up water and she fired right up.
She idled fine then died and will fire up but won't stay running.
What can I do to remedy that?
