Based off Mercuriser's parts database here: https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/parts-and-accessories/parts-catalog

That serial number matches in the range of a 150 Inline 6 not 165 Inline 6.

I may be wrong but it shows serial numbers 1666495-2048046 as 150 GM 230 I/L6. The years are between 1964-1966.

The 160 GM 250 I/L6 is 2048022-2770031

The 165 GM 250 I/L6 is 2770032 and up.

Depending on the boat the motor could be original to it since the 230 was between 1964 and 1966. If not then they probably blew up the 250 rather early in the life of the boat and decided to replace it with a 230.

Also welcome to the club I recently picked up a 1976 SRV-195 and just about have it ready to get in the water.

Thank you for the welcome, hope you get out soon and enjoy the weather, I did not think of looking at a different size engine, was told it was the 165 and valve cover has 165 on it, must be the 230 though like you said, someone must have used some parts from the 165 on it when they replaced it, have had mine out 2 times so far rides nice and engine runs good other then after about a hour of running it it stalls then has to set for a bit before it will start again, I checked it when it was down and the coil stops putting out juice, until what ever cools down, so I will put a new coil on it and give it a fresh tune up, hopefully the coil will be the solution, the part number on the coil dates back to maybe being original one. Thank You for checking the number out.
