Help identify evinrude motor. Added more pictures

I bought this boat as a hull and it had an evinrude motor on it that runs. The guy said he thought it was a 25 hp but did not know for sure. There are no numbers to id the horsepower. Also there is no model as the badge is not on the mount. I look at it did have a welch pin but only had the serial number not the model on it.


Can get a better picture if needed.

First of all welcome to iboats :welcome:

You stated that there was a welch plug with numbers on it and thought they were mere serial numbers. Well those numbers can decode what the engine is and manufacture and year as well. Post those on here and we can help with that...
Also good to here it runs. Most hand over engines don't...but don't run it until it has been gone over. Most likely it needs a new water pump impellor for starters...

Thanks for the welcome. I am new to outboards I have always had inboards. I will get a better picture and post the numbers on the welch plug.

Call BRP customer service with that # and they should be able to tell you what it is. 1-262-884-5993.

Thanks for the help. I call them and turns out it is a Johnson 30 horse. I guess the guy decided he wanted to put evinrude decals on it.

based on the exhaust housing it is 1989 or newer.------Many different cowlings will fit it.

It's good that you now know what you have. Did they give you a year?
