help identify this part.

I ordered from a dealer a plastic water tube guide for a 69 85hp Johnson about a year or so ago and got this part instead. I'm not sure what it is or what it does, if I should keep it around or not? It's about 5/8"dia x 9/16" long and a 1/2" bore on one end and reduced to 1/4" bore on the other. one end of the ouside has a slight chamfer.

Probably a shift rod bushing for the old twins up to 40hp. That's the one that people are always asking how to get it out to replace the seal that goes in the counterbored end..
