someone please help me ID this mercury ser# It is approx a 1978? 90hp? #3039808 ?

Here is the data from 1965 thru 1978:

90 900 6-cyl 1755444 1869775 1965 USA Production stopped in 1965 then started again in 1978.

90 900 6-cyl 4845301 5160323 1978 USA

Which makes me think it is not a 90 but an 80 hp with a 90 cowl

80 800 (R6) 6-cyl 3186283 3493912 1972 USA

thanx carholme. Thats the best anyone has come up with so far. Been to a couple dealers and they cannot identify it. Would it make a difference if it were Canadian built?

Actually looking at the #'s you provided with the link above, it may more likely be a '71 115hp Or now that i read the chart again maybe a 135hp. This thing is huge and completely dwarfs an '84 50hp i have ( the lower unit is huge)in comparison

If it was Canadian built the s/n would begin with a 7

would a '71era 135hp be a straight 6 or V6?

You could pull the jet, item 31 in this link and see what size it is:
