help identifying my 115 johnson

i bought this motor 4 mos ago looked to see that the tag was painted over.cant read the numbers anymore found number on motor could be serial number can anyone help with any info fro this number g3110797

have you taken the cover off and looked for the frost plug??
its usually a quarter sized cap that has has the model and serial stamped in it.

Mine is located on the back of the engine..centererd between the left and right cylinders..

Depending on the year of the powerhead, you may find valuable information stamped on the casting plug on the topmost cylinder. It is probably painted over. The model number holds the key information. Some later models may only have a serial number.

G3110797 Is probably a 1992 model year serial number. Your authorized dealer can have that checked.
