hi.. i got a boat yesterday and it's a unique old boat and i am planning on restoring it to functional..not show quality (yet) ...but i dont really know what it is. i have been googling for 2 days now.. the title says "fairmont" .. year "unknown"..i basically got it for nothing .. i bartered a pest control /spider control treatment ( i own an exterminating biz) and had to drive 7 hrs round trip.. 100 bux in gas..
it's a cuddy cabin with a lil sink .. has cool blue tinted windows , it's 18 ft and has a 4 cyl volvo penta.. i was told the motor was rebuilt when his father owned it but he passed away before he put it back in the water.. that was 2010..currently it is not running .. the floor needs replacing and the plywood door for the cuddy cabin could use a replacement as well.. i love the look of it.. cool lines , havent really seen anything like it..closest thing i have found searching is a Dorsett Catalina from the late 50's..but those seemed to all have outboards .. i'll include a pic that is readily available right now.. was from his craigs list ad.. i need to take my own pics too.. the trailer is a newer sylvan trailer that is in very nice shape.(prolly worth 700-1k alone). i dont plan on turning a profit on the boat .. i wanna keep it for myself..good size/design for inland lakes and great lakes
besides the floor and the wood dash the rest is in really nice shape.. and it has a bimini top that covers the back half of the boat .. but that is shot as well.. the metal is good..not a priority replacement yet ..but if anyone knows how to identify this boat so i can get in the right direction to get it on the water that would be much appreciated..thanx , steve-o
