Help identifying my engine

We just bought a 1993 Dynasty Elanti and have had a few issues with it. First I need to identify my engine so you guys can help me with those issues. The only marking I can find on the engine because of it's placement is 0D893207. It is a Mercruiser I/O and I would assume it is the original since there was no mention of engine replacement at time of purchase...only a new foot. The issues I have had are the engine not turning over and now the belt has popped off. I believe the slave solenoid is bad because I can jump it and it cranks. Failed on me in the water and I jumped it the same way I did with muffs in the driveway. Looking at it last night I see that the belt has come off the pulleys which makes sense because it was squeeling on the water the other day so it was loose. I need guidance as to getting it back on. I will take some pics this evening when I get home. Thanks for any guidance...I am new to boat ownership but am very handy with the right direction.

Re: Help identifying my engine

The engine serial number should be 0D601162, which is a 3.0L engine with EST ignition.

There should be a serial number tag just above and aft of the starter on the block where it bolts to the flywheel cover. A digital camera can usually get you a picture to verify the number.

Thanks Don....will do that this evening. Since I am new to this, what does EST stand for?

It stands for Electronic Spark Timing. It's the marine version of the GM Delco Voyager distributor.

You aren't close enough to the back of the engine.

You need to start your own thread in the outboard forum skeeter, this is the IO forums.

Re: Help identifying my engine

Like I posted earlier, your SN should be 0D601162, since you can see portions of the tag that says 001162 or 601162, it sound to me like you found enough of the number to confirm it's the original engine.
