I have just purchased an hour meter to install on my 115hp Evinrude, 96. Just had the engine rebuilt, and wanted to keep up with my usage. I understand that I need a power source, that is activated by the ignition switch. I can't seem to find one. Do I have to go into the control box, or could I use the power going to the tach. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Help Installing Hour meter

My gas gauge is opperated by a master switch, not the igniting switch. I really do not want to put it on the master switch, sometimes it get accidentally turned on..

Find a purple wire out of the control. This is an accessory wire, hot when the switch is on.

c/6

Hooty
