I bought an Arrow Glass boat. It is a 1968 model. It has an inboard outboard system. It has a 120 hp Mercruiser inline six on it. I want to know which lower unit this boat has on it and also what the motor goes under as far as who made it (Ford, GMC, etc.) or does it go under actual Mercruiser for parts. I also need to know wht might be the problem about it not shifting into gear. The cable moves but it does not shift into forward or reverse. I was trying to pull out the lower unit housing to see if there was any problems with that gear, but I couldn't. How does one do this? Quite frankly I do not know much anything about boats, but I do know about auto mechanics so I am just taking things apart to see what I find. If you have any advice please help. Thank you.

berto, I see that your'e a student. in a BIGGER sense we all are. I would first suggest you find a source to secure a manual and study this. then have fun, and get a second job to be able to restore your project. The engine should have some indication of manufacture. most (not all)mercrusier's were 'built/modified' from typical auto manufacturer, ie. ford, gmc. So Serch your block and see what you come up with. let us know.

I am also new in this hobby somebody game me a boat free now the lower gearbox not working properly I dismatled but using puller and snap ring fliers I found out the forward, reverse and<br />pinion gears were missing tooth, now ireplaced the whole unit and upgrade the stern and it works really good.
