Re: Help me decide on a boat

Howdy neighbor! Whereabouts in central PA are you? Both of those boats look pretty good and are priced fairly. They both also have good Mercruiser powerplants that you can still get parts for. I'd prefer the V8 but I'd definitely look at both. Your biggest concern is going to be rot in the wooden components of the hull. You want a solid deck, stringers, and transom. ANY soft spots at all in the deck could be indicative of more serious rot below. Check them out very carefully. Good luck.

Ayuh,... They're both potentially good boats,...
But,...
In 89 the 350 was 260hp, not 285,...
Matter of fact, there's never been a 285hp Merc...
And,...
In 79, the 4.3l was Not an option...

Soooo,... A very careful inspection will be necessary...

Re: Help me decide on a boat

I live in harrisburg, pa and am planning on going to Raystown lake. I like the idea of the v8 and was concerned that the 4.3L (if it is a 4.3) would be under powered in the 21'. I also thought they were both fairly priced the sea sprite has a dual axle trailer which I thought was a bonus.

The wellcraft has been repowered in the last five years. I'm not sure what to think of this.. it also has the option of thru hull exhaust which seems cool. but still not sure about the single axle trailer. any other insight to these two boats??
