I am the proud owner of a new-to-me 1998 Chris Craft Sport Deck 23 . It is equipped with a Volvo 5.7 GS gas engine and an SX outdrive. I have looked all over the engine and stringers and cannot find the serial number plate anywhere. I did find a plate on the Outdrive with Prod No. 3868718 and what I think is a serial number T0821151
Judging from the Sticky post on another forum I have either a model 57GSXBY or 57GSXWT (both list year 1998)
Neither of these can get me to the point where I can order parts for the motor because they don't tell me what the actual engine serial number is. My guess is the previous owner inadvertently removed the serial plate or covered it with paint. can you tell me on what part of the engine I can find the serial number? perhaps it is stamped into the block or something?
I have looked in the places the Volvo website suggests to no avail so please do not send me to that link. Is there anything else I can look at to determine which motor I have?
