I just got a 7.5 HP Mercury outboard. I am trying to get what model/year I have in order to get parts for it. The serial number tag is damaged but I think I can read enough of it to figure it out.
The numbers I see are as follows
281?525 The center number I cannot see.
Now when I look at this chart I see numbers that are close, but not quite:

I am guessing it is a 1969 or1970 motor??
It also says:
"Kiekhaefer" on the front of the Aluminum/Metal cover and has "Thunderbolt Ignition" on it.
It has good compression. I squirted a tad of gas mix in the carb and she started right up. I intend to put a new water pump in it and basically clean it up and check the oil.
What do I have here? I have never owned a Merc. Bob
