Help me identify this part & our issue

Our Mercruiser 3.0 in a 2012 Sea Ray 190 has been sputtering at random when getting up to speed, right about at 2000 rpm. It runs fine at idle and if you can get it past the sputtering point, it runs beautifully on plane and at all rpms from 3000 up. It's just that one point in the throttle where it loses power and seems like it wants to stall out.

In tinkering around with a couple things, we think we've identified that canister that is circled as being involved in the issue. We wiggled and pushed on it a little bit and seemed to resolve the issue for a couple weeks, but it has now returned.

Wondering if anyone can tell me what this part is (something to do with air intake I am guessing), and whether it could be responsible for our issue, and if it's a simple matter of just replacing the part. Thanks for helping out a novice!!

Here is a parts breakdown, https://www.marineengine.com/parts/...ec/1a072812-up/cylinder-head-and-rocker-cover

Looks like it is a vent to the manifold - sucks blow by into intake. Entirely possible if this is popping out it is creating a vacuum leak that lets air in the intake stream that doesn't go through the throttle body - which creates a lean mixture. ight just be the grommet holding it into the valve cover is roached by heat

you would be better served getting a factory service manual (not sure which one you need) maybe @achris knows or can comment
