I am torn between what I should buy in a used deckboat. I see many Sea Rays and Chaparrals for sale in my area. It seems the Sea Rays are more expensive. Here are some of my guestions:

1. Should I try and go with one that has fuel injection vs a carb motor?

2. Mercruiser or Volvo?

3. 21 foot vs 24 foot? There is a big price differential between the two year for year.

heres my opinion
1) seems like carbs are old news, FI has many benifits, ie, better atomization, more presise fuel mix and injected at the right time, and more im sure, boat mechs.. results would be better fuel economy, better performance and more im sure, boat mechs..
2) bet ya get about 50% of people one way 50% the other. both have been around forever. don't quote me on this but i think volvo invented the IO, merc patented it. so ya pretty much can't go wrong with either. not to mention, those are pretty much the choices it seems. one thing also is to consider who's gonna service it. if the merc dealers a long ways away and the volvo dealer is accross the street,,, or visaversa.. it sure would be easy to go accross the steet.
3) no idea on that one. depends on what yer gonna use it for and where yer gonna use it. small lakes? big oceans? how much bread ya have to spend on toys.....bigger boat, deeper pockets. understanding of corse that any boat is a B.O.A.T. break out another thousand.

Sea Ray, Mercruiser, 24. You will want a 24 in less than a year if you go 21. Check out Rinker too. they have a nice line of runabouts up to 28'.
