I'm getting ready to go to lake tomorrow. I was going to check/change my oil today, and ive got a problem. I was going to just check the oil because i know it has been recently changed. I pulled the vent plug and i had nice clean oil flow out the vent plug. I want to top off the oil so i can make sure it is full. This is my first boat, and first time ever checking changing the oil. The problem ive got is the drain plug will not come out, it is an allen wrench type plug and it is rounded off. So with out being able to get the drain plug out, how do i top off the oil, or make sure it is full of oil and not air. I have a hand pump and I connected it to the fill whole with the vent plug still removed one or two pumps and oil comes out the vent whole. At first when i do this i get alot of bubbles then a nice flow of oil. I thought i could do a couple of pumps and then put my finger over the vent whole to keep the oil from coming out. But when i remove the pump no more oil is flowing anyhow. I'm worried that im really just pressurizing the lower unit and forcing oil from the bottom of the unit out the vent. So is it full or is it just pressurized and when i remove the pump the pressure drops and then the oil falls to the bottom of the unit. I'm just concerned that the unit is not full of oil. I will take boat to shop next week and have them go ahead and change and replace the drain plug. HELP WHAT DO I DO?
