help merc 65hp 1973 stalls on full power.

My Engine, 65 hp merc, stalls when givin full power from nutral position. The stalls when given power in reverse to fast. Will run fine if given power slowly. I can't find the ajustment screw for idle. Is that the problem?. I have changed the plugs, cleaned the carb, increased the fuel octane, and a added a new battery.

According to the manual a lean idle mixture will cause power loss during acceleration. You might want to get a manual, it will show you where the screws are and how to set them.

Sounds good. Do you happen to know how many screws there should be to adjust. I will check with my local marine to find a manual. The motor is old I might have trouble finding a manual.

2 screws<br />1 on each carb.<br /><br />Top right side when looking at the engine from the front. They should be inset into the carb. You will need a long narrow screwdriver.<br /><br />Set them at 1 1/2 turns.<br /><br />TMD
