Does the primer bulb get firm when squeezed (before starting the engine)? If it doesn't, the float level in one or more of the carbs is misadjusted which prevents the inlet needle and seat from closing off the flow of fuel. You also did not indicate year and/or model number of your engine. Spraying carb cleaner in the throat cleans only the throat -- it does absolutely nothing for the internal carb passages.

If it backfires thru the exhaust, its not running fine. If it is indeed backfiring thru the exhaust there are wires crossed somewhere or one cylinder is not firing and when the raw fuel gets in the exhaust its igniting.

Probably. But first we need to know exactly what its doing or not doing that needs changing. Is it indeed backfiring thru the exhaust?

Ok Let me tell you whats going on with this darn thing. in the morning it starts good with the help of the fast idle how ever I hear what sounds like it is missing. then i head out to my fissing hole and fish for awhile. Then I pull up and move when I stop the motor dies and wont start. When I look I can see gas film all in the water I know it is comming from the carb the lower one. I hope this will help you determine what going on.

Re: HELP my johnson 110 driving me nuts

Ok guys I restarted the motor and now it sounds like it is comming from the carbs but sounds like it is also comming thur the exhaust. I am not a real good at this but I am able to fix things with the help of others like yourself. When i start the motor I have to put the idle leaver up all the way then bring it down even after it warms up. I thing it is some thing to do with the carb adjustment. can someone tell me how to do this?

I'm with Richard. tear the carbs down and clean them again. Don't use spray cleaner. Get some soaking type and soak them for a couple of hours and then blow out each and every orifice and passageway with compressed air. Double check the float setting and put them back together.
