It's a Chevy part, not Mercruiser.

Mercruiser, Chevy motor.

I've already called everyone on the internet that says they still have this part in stock, once called, they dont have it. No longer available. I talked to Mercruiser and they said it is and possibly someone with access to the dealer net could check their shelves. They said there was one on a shelf in San Diego, but wouldn't tell me the dealer. Said I have to use the dealer net. Go figure.

Thanks for checking with COMP Cams, however that pushrod is for a Ford motor, non oiling tip. Already been to all the cam builder sites too.

Mercruiser sir. Finally had Mercury Marine break the rules and give me the GM OEM part number, which turned out is also, NLA. The reason they called me is because I sent a message to their "contact us" site saying I want a new engine, since I cant get parts for this one and it's a 95 model. Hell even the valves are a special size.

Get off the internet and call your local Chevy dealer and order a new push rod. Or go to NAPA.
That is NOT a marine part.

Interesting Don. I kinda figure since GM sent me an email stating it was an engine built for mercury marine in 94-95 only, and they no longer have or make that oddball size pushrod (or parts) and since the camshaft came labeled "quicksilver parts and accesories" and GM said I would have to go through mercruiser to get pushrods and valves, it would make it a mercruiser marine engine part even though it is an actual GM 454.

Not looking for an argument here Don, this old man has been around engines for 45 years. This is the 1st oddball GM motor I've ever run up against pertaining to getting parts, from Mercury OR GM.

Here's the Engine ser no. 0F425676.

I might add Don, this didn't happen last weekend. It happened 3 months ago, and yes, I went to NAPA, CarQuest, Autozone GM corporate, Mercruiser etc etc. I've been hunting for this part..or a replacement...for 3 months.

Thanks Scott. Melling doesn't make the "TYPE H-H" in that length since actual size including theoretical radius of the tip would add .017 thou per end depending on the diameter of the oil hole. Told me to send a good intake and exhaust pushrod and they'll make me a set. Been there too..but thanks. This is the course I'm going to take.

I'm not sure what has changed but GM used to have "marine" part numbers in there system as did authorized dealers. I know a local GM Authorized dealer/supplier here now wont even say the word "marine" Something must have changed in the contract. Any how it wouldn't surprise me to find out there was a short run of some odd sized parts used that are NLA.

Push rod companies will make you any length you desire, just give them a ring.
Or if you prefer.

Thanks Joe, pretty much got the same runaround at my dealership. Melling will make me a set even though i only need 1 exhaust rod. I'm original boat owner, never had a problem till now. Thanks for your reply!

Here's the Engine ser no. 0F425676.
Using the serial number you posted and looking up the intake and exhaust pushrod part numbers from merc shows them both to still be active/available numbers from merc.

It appears you're looking for the wrong part number.

The part numbers you should be looking for are,
Item number 5, 75589, QTY, 8 ROD (INTAKE)
Item number 5, 75590, QTY, 8 ROD (EXHAUST)
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...sc=CYLINDER+HEAD+AND+ROCKER+COVER(7.4L+BRAVO)

http://www.mercruiserparts.com/sele...r=7.4L+BRAVO+(GEN.+V)++++GM+454+V-8+1992-1996

Also your engine is a MERCRUISER TB5, W/PS, TWO PC Exhaust, GEN V 7.4L BRAVO, Not a 7.4L/LX (GEN VI)

Yup, agreed FunTimes. Gen V engine by the ser # and date.

Originally 2 months ago I bought the 75590 pushrod because as you pointed out, ser #,, date etc seems right but, it is .625 thou longer than whats in the engine now. Gen VI is the correct dimension pushrod. Dont ask me why. And like I said, motor in boat is original, the engine ser number matches the invoice and engine book from when I bought it in 95. Short term engine for 94-95 model year according to mercruiser.

But thanks for the reply.

Howdy,

I looked at the ROCKAUTO online catalog and they not only have pushrods in stock for just about every 454 made (Sealed Power) but they also show dimensions with pictures...

www.rockauto.com/

Cheers,

Rick
