Road: go to www.usboatsupply.com for parts break-down. However, distributer is discontinued. Parts are available but hard to find. Fastbullet may have info and post it later. Try searching that auction site, also. Just passing by and saw your post. You may want to just continue your old thread, for info and historical reading by others. Not being anal, just passing along what I've read before. I have a Similar vintage 50HP. Good sound at 5000 rpms.

a big thanks to all that helped i found a used distributor in my area for $50 bucks ,, never seen a motor with a blown rod before ,,, nice mess .

how is this part removed from the dist. ? this unit is from a 6 cyl. and i need to change the trigger assembly and core to fit my 4cyl .
my seloc manual is not very descriptive on this detail and i dont want to ruin anything on either unit. .
some of the stops and black advance ring are different then mine .
rebuilt a few auto distributors but never one of these.
any help or pic details please.

I will PM you the material so not to get any of the mods upset. Be very careful to support the plate when driving the rotor shaft out or it will break the outer sencor off and the dist will be ruined.

Thanks again sir , my solec says to bend the tabs for the cap , your info says its threaded .. not to doubt you ; as you have been most helpful, could there be both types ? this is the detail i was searching for.

p.s. sorry for the multi posted question. i will refrain from that again and keep all my post under the original "rebuild" post .

I know this engine is worth the work as it has low hours but was maintained well until the owner passed a cpl. years ago , then the guy i got it from did not understand about careing for outboards.

I could not wait , i looked at the cap and under the grease i found the internal tabs to release the threaded cap .
