I AM LOOKING AT PURCHASING A 1988 IMPERIAL 260FC AND NEED INPUT ABOUT THIS BOAT THIS IS THE AD:This boat has been in storage since October 2007 and is being sold to settle an estate . It has a Deep-V hull with a 10 ft. beam. Powered by a 5.7 (V-8) Volvo/Penta 270 hp Duoprop I/O. The cabin is well equipped with a full-sized galley, stand-up head with shower, a dinette, and 2 berths. The electrical system is both A.C. and D.C. with all required breakers and switches. There are rod holders, rod storage racks and fish boxes. Anchor, rode and power windlass are included. In 2003 a Marine Survey was completed and is available for review. Boat is still in shrink wrap but can be entered. No pictures are available. At this price it is a GOOD deal.
I HAVE READ SOME REPORTS ON THESE BOATS ON OTHER SITES IT HAS BEEN CALLED A "BUTTER BOAT" REGARDING WEAK FIBERGLASS ON THE DECK, SOME SAY THE OMNI HULL DESIGN IS BAD. IT IS FOR SALE FOR $4,900 AND I THINK I CAN GET IT FOR A LOT LESS. ANY INFORMATION FROM MEMBERS HERE WOULD BE APPRECIATED THIS WOULD BE MY FIRST CRUISER TYPE BOAT. HAVE ALWAYS HAD RUNABOUTS WITH OUTBOARDS.
THANKS

Re: Help Need Advice!!

save your $$$, first..its 20yrs old, and sitting up is as bad as no maintenance, things dry out,crack..then break down.hoses/wiring/impellers ect...if there was a recent survey, that would be good, but unless you have alot of disposable income, look for something thats less prone to cost you a fortune to run.
Imperial boats were not bad boats..but not great boats, look for older searays or wellcraft's.better built,parts/pieces easy to come by and sport mercury motors..cheaper and more readily available.
