Had to get my duo prop stern drive worked on and shop told me they had to remove and replace engine. After Job was complete and boat was back in the water have hard time starting just wont fire instantly like before engine re and re. Also WOT is up to 6000 and I was told its max should be 5200. Called back shop and they told me could not possibly be anything they did. Is there anything after re and re that needs to be set up? I just want to be able to talk about this intelligently.

Thanks

Okay why did they have to remove the engine? It is not necessary to remove engine to remove the drive. What all did they do?
If it's starting hard it could be simple like spark timing which would be their fault. Revving to 6000 indicates wrong prop or spun prop, or coupler. Did it rev to 6000 before you had the work done? How are you achieving the 6000 rpms?

Loose connections at the ignition coil, or distributor?
What was the reason for the original work?
If you're hitting 6000 rpm, that's way to high, did they change props, did they change the gear ratio in the drive? You have a lot of questions for them.
