Help Needed: Trailer Wiring

Hello,

I installed a new light kit on my trailer ... using the same setup as previously installed I have 2 rear and 2 side. It has a 5 wire setup that connects to a 4 wire plug. I am a new boat owner so I have never towed a boat before. I have a 2006 Jeep Commander with a towing package on it. I bought a 7 pin plug that plugs into the truck and provides a 4 pin option or a 5 pin plugin option beside it. When I tested the lights, the rear turn signals and brake lights work... but the two sides do not work... also the running lights on the trailer do not come on when my head/tail lights are on. Suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

Do you have a test light? Check for power coming out of the plug at the truck. On my Chevy I have a separate fuse for the trailer lights, might be a fuse in the tow vehicle.
