I picked up a 97 Merc Mariner Jet 30 that is in excellent condition and the harness cable leaving the motor ends with 12 wires coming out of the cable housing at its end. No control box or key switch

I also have a shifter seperate from the harness with three wire connectors for the power trim and two additional connectors for I'm not sure what. The motor has power trim. So..... With a Seloc manual on the way (should be here saturday) which I hope will help me figure out the wiring I wanted to ask for help here.

If I wanted to try and rig a simple push start switch and bypass any not essential items from the harness to try and test fire the motor is there any info anyone can provide me on how to determone which wires to start and which to cap off for now? I'd assume they would be wire for tach, start, choke, trim up, trim down, ground, low oil warning ....

The battery cables are seperate and so are the throttle and the shifter for reverse. I have pics of the motor and the shifter as well as the harnes if that will help I can post them.

Thank you for and help or advice!

GOD BLESS

john
