Ok guys, I need some help/advice. I built a custom swim platform for my boat. This platform will double as a fishing platform as well. This platform has been completely glassed and is ready for finishing. I have been kicking a few different ideas around on how to finish it but want some input.

My boat is a 1988 Glastron and it will be almost impossible to color match the gelcoat where you won't be able to tell the difference. Here are my ideas..

1. Paint the outside edges either white or blue, to match the boat, and stain then seal the top of the platform to match the wood trim on the rear steps of the boat. This is easy EXCEPT I need a way to make this a non-slip finish. Can I add non slip additive (aka sand) to the sealer without it looking horrific? I don't want to add non slip strips etc on the platform because that looks tacky in my opinion.

2. Paint the edges blue and get the closest white Rustoleum paint and mix with non slip additive for the top.

These are the only options I can come up with. Please remember, I don't want to spend very much on finishing this project. I built the platform and brackets with left over wood from the interior of the boat and made the brackets with extra 2x2 angle so I have zero invested in this.

Oldjeep mentioned seadeck, I have seen a few people on here use it and never saw an update where they were not happy with it.

That is pretty cheap and should be an easy fix. Thanks for the link oldjeep. That is at the top of my list at this point.

I'm a well known Seadek fan so I second oldjeep's suggesions. Another option would be to teak strip it so it matches the built in swim platforms.
