Re: Help new to boating

Since you dont know much about boats get a marine survey done. google it for your local area. Check NADA value to see if the price is right. Ask to test drive it on the water. Search the forum for threads on what to look for during a test drive. Theres lots of boats for sale out there, what has you sold on this one, you dont want the overall excitement of it to out rule good reasoning.

Re: Help new to boating

Make sure you run it on the water before you buy it. You want to see it in action, not just started in the driveway. If you can't afford the survey mentioned above, perhaps a local marine mechanic would look it over for you. I'd want to know where the spider cracks came from. It's a pretty new boat to have them appear for no reason. Depending on where they are, it may indicate a collision ... and make me wonder (especially with one engine being rebuilt) how hard this boat was run (and perhaps not cared for).

I don't know the jet boats too well, but beyond NADA compare the prices to other boats on CL in your area. It's actually one of the best indicators of price.

the owner said the spider crack came from bumping the dock and the engine was rebuilt due to a oil line that went bad but that he has corrected the problem by premix now. the boat is well below nada value and a marine mechanic said all compression was good and that he dewinterized it today thank you for all the help its much needed

Re: Help new to boating

Get an "outside" mechanic's opinion and a Yamaha dealer's opinion. Something is fishy

His "pre-mix" as a "solution" to an oil line problem is a huge red flag. Pre-mix is a term used for 2-cycle engines. The Yamaha AR210 has 4-cycle engines. So, the owner is hiding something big, and not just his lack of knowledge, just my opinion. Just beware, usually this type of seller is not just hiding the one thing.
