The feller said he believed it was a '79??<br /><br />JOHNSON 25<br />MODEL #: 25R74M<br />SERIAL #: E4010719<br /><br />This motor looks good--starts fine in neutral. Never had in water yet while wait (@#$%!) for special-order hitch.<br /><br />The man had squished axle grease into exterior joints--is this a good (tho messy-looking) idea?<br /><br />Any tips on clean running for many seasons?<br /><br />Ventureman3<br />Magnolia Midlands of GA

This motor is a 1974. Use high quality TCW-III oil and use 89 octane fuel. Check gear oil every 6 monthes. Watch for fishing line behind prop. It will cut seal and allow water into lu. Flush after use in saltwater. Good luck!
