Re: help on shipping an outboard motor

I shipped a yamaha 200 to texas about 6 months ago for 175 bux. RL transport. Place on a pallet so the motor doesnt hang over, strap it down wrap with large saran wrap and send it off. I had no issues and it was not expensive. I dropped it off at their dock to save pick up fee. My outboard weighed 410 lbs.

Second that info.

Look for LTL Trucking Companies. They have big docks with all kinds of random stuff on pallets. I'm sure the guys at the dock will help with putting it on a pallet and wrapping it if your concerned about it's condition.

For all you know there are one of these distribution docks near you and you never noticed it.

LTL - Less Than Truckload.

I just googled LTL - Chicago and a bunch came up.

Good Luck - and update how much, thanks.

needs to be strapped to a pallet. call Allie, at Freight Center. com. they have shipped many motors for me. it is cheaper if the motor can be taken to a local shipping terminal, and delivered to a terminal in Chicago, and you pick it up.

Re: help on shipping an outboard motor

Thanks for info. i got a price of 245.00 from someone at U-ship. sounds like a fair price for approx. 1000 miles of travel and I'm guessing motor wieght is about 400 pounds? I will check with others that you guys provided.
